Small Pantry Provides Supplies For Anyone In Need

When it comes to helping those in need, even small donations make a big difference.

Take the Free Little Pantry in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a structure that provides the community with food and supplies. Anyone can help stock or take from the pantry whenever they wish, and there are plenty of other benefits to the cupboard as well.

Jessica McClard wanted to create a structure to create more of a community and space to help others. “My feeling is little free structures both create space for neighborliness and address social problems,” she told The Huffington Post.

McClard stocked the box--which sits in front of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church--with pantry staples such as peanut butter and jelly, bread, feminine hygiene products, diapers, and school supplies for the elementary school, located near the pantry.

And the goodwill is spreading. McClard’s idea inspired several other people and organizations to build their own pantries across town and in surrounding states, and she’s thrilled by their enthusiasm. She even promotes them on her Facebook page.

“I encourage people to [build their own pantries],” she said. “They’ll be amazed at how much more the project gives back than they give to it.” Source
